Overview & Highlights

Welcome to Rosticceria Gislon, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Venice at Calle de la Bissa. This beloved eatery is more than just a restaurant; it’s a delightful culinary experience that captures the essence of Venetian flavors and local charm. Each day, Rosticceria Gislon transforms into a lively destination, where the air is filled with the tantalizing aromas of freshly prepared dishes, and the friendly staff warmly greet guests eager for a taste of authentic Italian gastronomy.

As you step inside, it’s hard to overlook the buzz of energy—the place is often packed, a testament to its popularity among both locals and tourists. Diners rave about the fried mozzarella with anchovies, a dish so unforgettable it prompts repeat visits, as noted by satisfied guests like Ernie Albay. The delicate balance of flavors and textures reflects the skill and passion of the chefs, making every bite worth savoring.

Gaby Clark's family discovered Rosticceria Gislon while exploring Venice, seeking a reprieve from the bustling streets. What they found was a haven of delectable treats that exceeded their expectations. Her ham and mozzarella sandwich—an irresistible concoction of melted cheese and savory ham nestled in crusty bread—was lauded as one of the best bites experienced in Venice. Paired with refreshing drinks and affable service, the meal provided a delightful interlude amid a day of sightseeing.

The highlight of the menu is undoubtedly the signature roast chicken, renowned for its generous portions and well-balanced seasoning. While some diners like Loo Yeo might note slight dryness as an area for improvement, the crispy, fluffy potatoes accompanying it often steal the spotlight. The rosticceria also presents an enticing variety of seafood and vegetarian options, as highlighted by Vikrant Naik, who enjoyed the authentic, tasty dishes that set this place apart from its counterparts.

For those looking to indulge in something lighter, the calamari showcases impeccable freshness, while the shrimp and fish spaghetti offers a raw, unadorned taste of the sea, perfect for those who appreciate simplicity in flavor. Even with a bustling, sometimes chaotic atmosphere, Rosticceria Gislon manages to provide an authentic Italian dining experience, embracing the concept of fast food without sacrificing quality.

In spite of their growing popularity and the minor drawbacks of service efficiency, the flavors and genuine atmosphere keep customers coming back for more. Rosticceria Gislon remains a steadfast symbol of Italian tradition blended with modern accessibility—offering a delectable slice of Venice that you won't want to miss. Next time you find yourself wandering through the charming streets of Venice, allow Rosticceria Gislon to satisfy your cravings with its unrivaled charm and mouthwatering fare.

The place is packed. The food looks good we had this fried mozzarella with anchovies. That’s good we went back for more

Me and my family went touring in Venice for a day, and if you’ve ever been there you’ll know you can’t sit down anywhere without getting charged. We were not only looking for a place to rest our legs, but also a bite to eat. We came into this nice little cafe and were greeted by friendly staff who were patient as we choose our food. I got a ham+ mozzarella sandwich thing (as shown in pictures) for €3, and oh my god it was one of the best things I’ve ever tried. It was packed with perfectly melted cheese+ some ham surrounded by the softest layer of bread. On the outside, there was a fish finger type crust which went perfectly with the insides of the sandwich. My mum got an aranchini, and considering we weren’t in Sicily we didn’t expect to be that great, but it went through the roof expectation level. Ngl, it wasn’t the best arancini I’ve ever tried but it actually tasted like one and not just a rice ball like all the other aranchini in Italy. For drinks, both my parents got an espresso which was apparently very nice. Me and my brother both got a liptons peach ice tea, and were delighted how they served that. I was a bit disappointed when a group of people came in and took the last of the ham+ cheese sandwiches, as I wanted another but I got over it. Lastly, they had a bathroom+ seating, which were both free of charge and pleasant. Overall, this is a lovely place with reasonable prices for a little bite or a bigger meal whenever you’re feeling hungry and I would 100% recommend!

Rosticceria Gislon, tucked near San Lio, has been one of my go-to Venetian stops. Breakfast here was a carrozza of prosciutto and mozzarella, an arancino of shrimp and rocket, and a quick espresso – simple, homely, and good value. Dinner brought their signature roast chicken: generously portioned, well-seasoned, with crisp, fluffy potatoes, though the meat edged toward dryness. Popularity due to a refit has brought a cold edge to service and prices. The food remains unpretentious and satisfying. A rosticceria that is losing tradition and accessibility, yet has enough still to draw me back.

So, after walking from one restaurant to another where the menu seemed to be a copy paste of each other, we reached here. It was crowded at lunch time. But the first thing we noticed, everyone inside was talking in Italian. Then we ordered some food. And it was incredible. Authentic and tasty. They have may be 5-6 vegetarian options but they are awesome. The fish options are incredible, or so I have was told. Also very cheap. A must eat place. It’s like fast food and crowded and chaotic but that’s the beauty of it.

We visited Rosticceria Gision during our trip to Venice and tried the shrimp and fish spaghetti. It had a fresh, raw seafood flavor and was served without sauce, which gave it a simple, authentic taste. We also had the calamari, which was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. The dining area was quite limited, and the ambience was just okay.

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of the flat that we stayed in Venezia. It turned out amazing. They served delicious, and authentic local food from Venezia, good drinks, and good desserts. The service was excellent. The staff was nice, and he helped us chose the popular dishes/drinks/desserts. Thank you for the good service.
